Brand
Rime, and nothing more.
The name is Rime. "Rime OS" is for when you need to say the operating system specifically, and "Rime Shell" for the desktop. The website is rimeos.com.
The mark is provisional. The evolved Rime mark and its opening animation are still being designed. Until then this is the spark carried over from APEX-OS, and it will be replaced everywhere at once.
Colour
Rime has no brand colour. On the desktop, colour comes from your wallpaper; on this site, from the wallpaper scene you're viewing. The mark takes the current accent in product contexts and plain black or white everywhere else. It must never depend on a particular blue, green or "ice" colour to be recognisable.
Writing the name
- Write Rime, with a capital R and nothing after it, in headlines and ordinary text.
- Use Rime OS only when you need to name the operating system as distinct from the desktop, and Rime Shell for the desktop.
- Rime was called APEX-OS until 28 September 2026. Say so only where history or migration matters.
- The Rime input method for Chinese, packaged in Fedora as
ibus-rime, is an unrelated project.
